Ceremony
Athens State University typically holds graduation ceremonies after each semester. Each academic college will have separate ceremonies at the end of the fall semester and spring semester. There will be one ceremony at the end of the summer semester to include all colleges.
For those who aren’t able to attend, we will be streaming the event live. Links will be made available through the Athens State University website (http://e1j.psychomotricite-la-seyne.com/commencement/ and social media accounts.
Cap/Tassel, Gown, and Hood
Students may purchase these items from the University Bookstore from now until the day of graduation. The cost is:
- Undergraduate Cap, Gown, and Tassel: $48.95
- Masters Cap, Gown, Tassel and Hood: $99.00
Various packages are available online and may be purchased until June 14, 2024: colleges.herffjones.com/college/athensstate.

Tassel colors by major are listed below.
College of Arts and Sciences (includes secondary certification)
- White – All Humanities and Social Science Majors (B.A., B.S., M.A.)
- Brown – Bachelor of Fine Arts
- Gold – All Science and Mathematics Majors (B.S., M.S.)
- Cream – Interdisciplinary Studies (B.S., M.A.)
College of Business
- Drab – All Business Majors (B.S., M.S.)
College of Education
- Blue – All Education Majors earning a B.S.Ed. or M.Ed. (except Physical Education)
- Green – All Physical Education Majors
Class Rings & Announcements (must be ordered online by June 14, 2024)

Honor Medallions
Students who will graduate with honors (as defined below) may order their medallion up until the day of graduation through the bookstore: http://www.bkstr.com/athensstatestore/shop/graduation, or at the bookstore on campus. The cost of the honor medallion is $20.00 plus tax.
- Summa Cum Laude: 3.90 to 4.0
- Magna Cum Laude: 3.70 to 3.89
- Cum Laude: 3.50 to 3.69

Photographs
The Grad Team is pleased to be the official graduation photographer for your school.
We ask that you pre-register so that we have your most recent and preferred contact information. This allows us to provide you with a link to your images in the fastest possible manner following their ceremony. You also have the option to upload a selfie image to better ensure we identify your images correctly from the hundreds that will be taken on commencement day.
